Here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida, we know that mentoring works. Take a look at the impact our Bigs, Staff, and Community has had on the lives of our Littles. We make a difference by providing professional, trained staff to carefully screen volunteers and match them in long-term, safe mentoring relationships, while giving necessary ongoing management and support for the volunteers, children, and families.
The Children We Impact
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida operates under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. To that end, we target the most vulnerable children in our community. When partnering with schools, we identify children who need early intervention to prevent them from falling behind or dropping out of school. Most of the children we serve live in low-income households and face a myriad of obstacles and challenges stemming from adverse situations like single parent households and incarcerated parents. Yet, despite being faced with seeming insurmountable odds, we are proud that our students are consistently making wise choices when it comes to their academic and personal achievements.
Diversity of Children Served
Here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida, the students we serve represent a range of ethnicities. See the ethnicities of students we served during the 2015-2016 fiscal year below.
Our Big Impact
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida’s overall goal is for the youth we serve to graduate from high school prepared for post-secondary education, training or the workplace. Through the years, the impact on our youth has been significant. Each time we pair a child with a role model, we create something magical: a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential.
